2)He is atracted to corruption becasue it gives hi hope.hope that it would spred to the members of the party, mostly the inner party. He wants all of that corruption and lies to eat away at it till it finaly collaps.
4)He tells her this becasue most of her rebellion has to do with having sex.Going deeper he means that shes only rebelling to get her kicks out of life. That shes only doing it for her self gain, and not for the partys demise.
Skiping ahead to ones i know i can answer.
10)Basicly,there going to drop a atomic bomb on them.A whole lot of people are going to die, inluding Winston. The twisted couple are going to be broken apart one way or another. And,we will hopfully find out what happens when you get cought.Wow, sounds like an episode of Lost.Book three start now.

8)"Newspeak" is the langueg of Oceania. Its purpose is to show as little as (close to none) emotion and expression as posible.Yhe party would use this becasue if you cant expres your emotion, you wont be able to cause an uprising, namly against the partyitself. Also ot gives he close to complet control over what the citizens say.
7)O'Brien's lifestyle is hypocritical becasue he works for both the inner party, and the Brotherhood. He will tell you your primary objective is to attack the party as much as possible, but then go back to doing paper work for the party. Also he hangs out with forigners.
6)He joins the brotherhood regardless of outcomes becasue he wanted to.He wants to bring the party down as much as possible even thouge nothong will be acomplished intill after hes long dead. Also becasue he hates the party.

1. The bird on page 124 does not sing for anyone or anything. The bird just sings because thats what birds do. Winston takes notice of this because the bords seems to be talking for no reason.

2.winston likes corruption becuase it means that everyone even the inner party believes there is somethign wrong with the goverment. This means that the goverment maybe someday overthrown. tThis gives him hope of change one day.

4.Winston says she is a rebel from the waist down because the only way she rebels is by having sex. She is not a real reabel and only rebels for herslef. She only cares about herself and not for change of the goverment.

5. He is fascinated with her because she sings and stay happy through out the day. Her day though only consists of cleaning dirty diapers all day long. even though this is true she finds some way to stay happy and he thinks this is beautiful.

6.He joined the brotherhood because he knew that later on in the future there would be change. He was the starting foundation of the change and he was ok if it did not change in his generation. As long as he knew in the future it would be different.

7.O'Briens life style is hypocritical because he doesnot save members of the brother hood who are about to die. If he is ever caught though his face is changed and he is safe from ever being caught. Also because even though he is against the party he still lives the privelaged life of a party member.

9. orwell wants the reader to believe that they can live in Ocenia but only if they never show it on there face. If they ever she on there face that they are against the party they are sure to be given up to the though police.

1) The bird doesnt sing for anyone or anything. He is doing it because he's a bird and thats what birds do- sing. Winston takes note of it because it seems happy just because.
2) Winston is attracted to corruption because it gives him hope. The hope that the party will soon be overthrown. It also excites him to know that he could in someway infect a member of the party.
3) On pg 147 the foreshadow is the picture with the bugs behind it. This is a forshadow of the near future of Winston and Julia being caught by the thought police because there is actually a telescreen behind the picture. On pg 152 the foreshadow is the explaination of Winston and O'Brien's connection. This foreshadows the joining of the Brotherhood.
4) He means that Julia doesnt care for the other ways to rebel agains the party. She only rebles by having lots of sex. Julia doesnt care for the truth behind the History or the tactics of the party because shes very young.
5) Winston is fascinated with her because he reminds her of the bird that was singing. She sings and shes fat but shes happy. He then sees that the bird and the proles sang but the party did not. She represent beauty to him.
6) Winston joined the Brotherhood because he knew that he would be aprat of the change. He cared for the change that he would have helped come true. He wasnt concerned with the time it took to happen, even if it wasnt in his time, jus as long as it happened.
7) O'Brien's lifestyle is hyprocritical because he works for the inner party, and yet he is a loyal Brotherhood member. Although he is apart of it, he doesnt save other members when they are caught. He is also a fake in the sense that he keeps changing his face in order to not get caught.
8) Newspeak is the language of the party. They are trying to eliminate the english language and have newspeak. By doing so they will have another form of getting the people more ingorant.
9) I think Orwell wants us to see that that is not possible. He wants us to see what can happen when there is too much power and control in the hands of one group of people. He also wants us to know what can happen if u try to be yourself in Oceania.
10) I think that Winston is going to go through a series of torturing things as punishment for betraying the party. I think they are going to put him in a room with rats since they are his biggest fear. Overall I think in book 3 we are going to find out what really happens to the people who are vanished.

1) The bird really isn’t really singing for anyone. It’s natural for bird to just sing. Winston takes so much notice of the bird because the bird is acting on its natural urge.

2) Winston loves corruption. This is because it gives him hope. If Julia had sex scores of times with party members, it meant they weren’t as holy as they preached. Winston hopes that with corruption, the party will be overthrown and that he could infect members of the party.

3) The first example of foreshadowing is the picture with the bugs behind it. It foretells Winston and Julia being busted by the thought police. There is a telescreen in the room so the room was “bugged.” The second is the explanation of Winston and O'Brien's connection. This leads to Winston joining of the Brotherhood.

4) When Winston told Julia she was only a rebel from the waist down, he meant her only form of revolting was sex. Further, she’s only doing it for fun. Her only purpose is herself.

5) Winston was so fascinated by the prole woman doing laundry and singing because she’s happy. The prole woman is happy throughout the day even though it’s spent cleaning. The woman reminds him of the singing bird, he thinks this is beautiful.

6) Winston joins the brotherhood so that he can be a part of the great change. By becoming a member, he was actually doing something against the party he loathed. It didn’t matter that the revolution wouldn’t occur while he was alive; the future was going to be different.

7) O’Brien’s life is hypocritical because he works for the Inner Party but is a member of the Brotherhood. Despite being against the party, he still lives the advantaged lifestyle of a party member. He also cohorts with foreigners, the party is against foreigners.

8) Newspeak is the language of the Party. It’s the only language whose vocabulary gets smaller every year. The Party uses this language to make people even easier to control by limiting vocabulary and simplifying grammar.

9) I think Orwell wants the reader to believe it would be hard to keep your humanity and individuality in a society like Oceania. You have authority always pushing you around, controlling what you think, and keeping tabs on what you do. How can you keep your individuality or humanity in a world like that one?

10) Since Orwell doesn’t really like happy endings, things are looking grim. Animal Farm, also by Orwell made my mouth drop. Book Three will probably be worse and we’ll all be left scratching our heads on how messed up the book ended.

1)The bird doesnt sing for anyone, it comes natural to the bird so he sings.Winston takes so much notice b/c a prole women also was singing, she may not have been happy but it was a natural thing for her to do.
2)Winston is attracted to corruption because he is corrupt,he is determind to recogonize people who are like him so changes could happen.
3)pg 147. It forshadows the bugs behind the picture. It is also ironic because now we kno the bug was really a bug spy type device)(telescreen).pg 152 WInston talks to Julia about his glimce at Obrian, Julia isnt surprised that he feels that way about Obrien b.c she is use to judging ppl by looks,
it foreshadows the meeting to Obrien an it is alson ironic b.c (mr.charrington for example , they told he wasnt part of the party bubt he surly was)pg166 they are talkin about confessing an getting caught, they soon get caught.
4)Winston meant that she was her own rebel she was juss rebelling for herself, she wasnt really making anychanges. The worst she is doing is having sex. Non ideas to change any big thing.waist down =rebel wait us=no rebel.
5)Winston is so faciated with the prole women thats singing because she has been through so much yet she still sings,HE then states the bird sings, the womens sings but the party does not sing. She represents what he wants the feeling she has. Beauty.
6) Winston joins the party because he wants to be apart of the change. He is attracted to corruption an the brotherhood is one form of corruption. He will do anything to be against the party. As long as there is a chance of change and corruption.
7)OBriens life is hypocritical because he is part of the brotherhood and part of the party, he doesnt make any big changes eaither an he doesnt save anyone. He is probably not as powerful as WInston thought.
8)Newspeak is the language they use. Its basically like the simplist form of expression or things. They try to change the bad things to sound good. The purposes is to limit wat ppl say and aso if someone were to hear a word frm the past, they won't understadnd it.
9)I believe that Orwell wants the reader to believe there is some type of hope and that you can keep your individuality. I believe everybody feels a certain type of way but no one wants to speak up. i also believe in 1984, if people want to survive they juss go by the rules an keep their thoughts to themselfs or people they really trust.
10)I think winston might speak out but still be killed. I believe things will attempt to change but will not. i think it will be a sad ending.

1)The bird is not singing for anyone. The birds sing because that's how they sing when when adopted to their environment. Winston take notice on it because it seems happy and it seems that there is something that is going on but the other women who is the proles was singing.

2)Winston is attracted to corruption because the inner party members give him hope of what is going on in the party and how the inner party thinks there is something going on with the government in the party.

3)There are examples of foreshadowing, one foreshadowing on page 147 was the picture that got bugs behind it. This means that Winston and Julia got caught by the thought police with telescreen watching over them. Another example was on pg 152 when there was a connection between O'brien and Winston. and there connection makes joined the brotherhood.

4)This mean that Julia was rebel because of the waist down. She only rebel for herself alone. She does not care about her history. The only time she rebel was by having sex. She does not care about her history.

5)Winston is fascinated by the prole women because when she sings and clean her house she's happy and also this remember him of a bird that sings.

6)Winston join the Brotherhood because he new there is going to be a change in his future. He knew there was going to be a change in his future because he remember about the corruption he had done in brotherhood with O'brien.

7)O'brien lifestyle is hypocritical because he works for the inner party. And also his corruption with the brotherhood had led him not to save other people to get caught.

8)News peak is like a different language for the parties other than an English language. The political purpose is to know how to expree your self and ideas to people around you and the government.

9)I think Orwell wanted the people to believe him because wanted us to go to oceania and to agaist other party members and to get caught by the thought police.

10)I think that Winston is going to go through a lot of struggles because people is going to her alot about him and he going to tell O'briens about the crimes that happened to him.

1. the bird isn't really singing for a cause. the bird sings because that's naturally what birds do. winston notices the bird so carefully because the bird is doing something that comes naturally.
2. winston is longing for change. he wants to have a more justice society, therfore when there is corruption among everyone, there's a better chance for them to see that something ios wrong with the rules.
3.the first one is winston and julia getting caught by the thought police while in mr. charrington's place. the bugs represented the telescreen that was in the room. 2.the second foreshadow was when winston and obrien having their little talk about him being apart opf the brotherhood.
4.winston told julia she's a rebel from the waste down only because she is. he means that she's actually good in bed but besides that she isn't worth much. for one she isn't smart she's only good at having sex.
5.this lady singing and doing laudry is fascinating to winston because he is reminded of that bird singing. The lady represents happiness and beauty to winston.
6.winston joined the brotherhood even though he knew the result of it so this injustice would stop somtime soon.
7.obrien is hypocritical becuse he's both an inner party member and a part of the brotherhood, which shouldn't be. obrien talks about things with winston about destroying the party but to others he's a worthy member.
8.newspeak is like the language of the party. however they are trying to eliminate even more words and grammar. by doing this the people will be less educated and will be even easier to control the people.
9. i believe that orwell are trying to saty it isn't possible for the people to actuallyretain their humanity because no matter what the government will always have that control that no one can change. if thers a new government , somehow there will always be that control that will be hard to get away from.
10 i think in book 3 winston will face death, i also believe that somehow they will find out about obrien and i really don't believe a change would ever be possible in occenia, at least not for the best.

1.The bird wasn't singing to anyone, it was singig to itself. Winston took so much notice because he realized that even the bird have more freedom than he does.

2. Winston is attracted to corruption beacuse it gives him hope, anything to rotten or weakeen the party gives him hope.

3. Pg.147:The bug behind the picture frame, forshadows the telescreen hidden behing the picture.
Pg.152: foreshadows how hypocritical O'Brain is, and Winston and Julia's joing of the brotherhood.
Pg.166: forshadows what will happen to Winston and Julia if they get caught for renting Mr. Charrington's room.
4. Winston tells Julia she is only a rebel from the waste downward because she is only rebelling againt the party by having sex with some of the party members, she doesn't care about other stuff because she is young.

5. Winston is facinated with the Prole woman singing because all she does everyday is wash diapers yet she stays happy all the time. she also reminds him of the bird.

6. He joined the Brotherhood regardless of outcome because he hated the party so much that he will do anything to overthrow it and he has hope that there will be change in the futre for the next generation.

7. O'Brian's life is hypocritical because he works for the party and at the same time work with the Brotherhood to eliminate the party.
8. Newspeak is the language the party created to limit the people's vocabulary so it will be easier to control them.

9. I think Orwell want readers to believe that it is not possible to retain humanity and individuality in Oceania because you have no privacy, there are tlescreen everywhere watching your every move even when you think u are safe, like Winston thought he was at Mr. Charrington's room.

10. I think in chapter 3, Winston will escape from prison and change his identy like O'Brian said they will have to when they get caught, and he might not see Julia again.

NOTE: I am sorry for not posting earlier Mr. Coulson. My internet wasn't working this week and i just got it fixed today. i will talk to you in skool tomorrow.

The book is educational. i agree with what was said and the points that was brought up. for most part, he basically repeats himself and i guess one theme of this book was to tell people about and about the things that divide people and that especially was wealth, he repeatedly talked about the three kinds of people, the, the middle, an the low. this i agreed with especiallyand going even further. the low want to increase thier position position as well as the other two groups, but in all fairness the people in low position should be the one fighting to pass their present position.
Even though this was a very understanding reading i wouldnt read it unless i had, like now and so i wouldnt understand what was meant by freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength and war is peace. by reading this, my mind opened even wider. It was interesting though boring. it took me a while to read this becausei lost my focus every now and then. it is truly something to reflegt on though.
Something that caught my attention from reading this was when a part of this reading "The essential act of war is destruction, not necessarily of human lives, but of the products of human labor." This is a very interesting thought because not everyone see it in this way, or would ever think of it like this.
I beleive it was just too long for me to read. maybe it couldv'e been shorten with the same amount of informationon page 184 and on pg 202. this same thing was basically being repeated and i justwould like to know what was the point of that? i understand it the first time and to read this again just gave me an intense headache. i now understand why those slogans came about. on pg 190, it said "in the long run, a hierarchial society was only possible on a basis of poverty and ignorance so i guess thats how ignorance and strength are equivilent. i would encouragepeople to read this because it shows you a lot that you probably wouldnt think about, but if your'e a person that dont enjoyreading about poverty, problems and so forth, i wouldnt encourage them to read it because it will give them a headache.

1) The bird sings to please itself. He took much interest becuase birds sing but not the party. The proles also sing like the birds sing.
2) Winston is attracted to corruption becuase it gives him alot of hope.If he found something corruption in the party he could use it agianst them. He could spread a virus that could end the party.

4) IN 1984 IT IS REBELLION TO HAVE SEX AND MANY OTHER THINGS. JULIA HAS SEX WITH MANY GUYS INCLUDING WINSTON.SO HE SAYS SHE IS A REBEL FROM BELOW BECUASE SHE HAS SEX.
5) WINSTON SEE'S THAT WOMEN AS A BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. SHE IS ENJOYING LIFE AND SINGING JUST AS THE BIRD HAS DONE BEFORE.
6) WINSTON WOULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING TO TAKE DOWN THE PARTY. HE JOINS THE BROTHERHOOD KNOWING THE OUTCOME BECUASE HE WOULD DIE REGARDLESS AND THE PARTY MIGHT STILL BE AROUND EVEN AFTER HES DEAD.
7) HIS LIFE IS HYPOCRITICAL BECUASE HE WORKS FOR THE INNER PARTY. ALSO HE IS IN THE BROTHER WHICH IS TRYING TO TAKE DOWN THE PARTY. I WONDER IF THEY SUCCEED WILL OBRIAN LEAVE WITH THE PARTY?
8) NEWSPEAK IS A NEW TYPE OF VOCABULARY THAT THE PEOPLE HAVE TO LEARN BECAUSE OF THE PARTY. I THINK THE PURPOSE OF NEWSPEAK IS TO LIMIT PEOPLES VOCABULARY THAT AT ONE POINT THEY WILL JUST BE IN FULL CONTROL OF EVERYBODY. IN POLITICS THIS WILL PROBALLY BE SIMILAR TO VIOLATION OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
9) YES ORWELL IS SAYING THIS. AFTER EVERYTHING THE PARTY HAS DONE THE ONLY THING THEY CANT TAKE AWAY IS THE PEOPLES HUMANITY. THE PARTY TOOK AWAY A LOT OF RIGHTS BUT THE RIGHTS DON’T MAKE THEM INTO HUMANS.
10) I THINK WINSTON AND JULIA MIGHT GET IN TROUBLE FOR BEING IN THE BROTHERHOOD. ALSO THAT WINSTON MIGHT END UP MEETING BIG BROTHER. AND HIM AND JULIA ARE GONNA HAVE TO GO TO THE MINISTRY OF LOVE.

1)The reason why the bird was singing because thats ehat birds do. Winston takes notice of the bird because he thinks its a like a thing for big brother to listen to people conversation.

3)On pg 147 there is forwshadowing with the picture with bugs and shows later on them getting caught by the thought police. On pg 152, about orien and then winston joining the brotherhood. Pg 166 i dont understand

8)Newspeak is a method which you use little word because of big brother so cut down on the words.
